Shamso Sheikh Hassan

Lawyer – Senior Legal Advisor

 

Bone in Mogadishu, Somalia, Shamso had a Bachelor in Law from the Somali National University (SNU) in 1985 and she earned her Masters in International Relations at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium.

Shamso started as a legal advisor for the Somali Ministry of Foreign affairs, then she was consular at the Somali embassy in Brussels. The years following the collapse of the Somali state she worked in the Nederlands as a gender leader, trainer and advisor, translator/interpreter and more. In 2016, she came back to Somalia and worked as a legal advisor at the office of the Prime Minister via Max Planck Foundation. In 2017 until now, still via Max Planck Foundation she has been working as a legal advisor to Puntland State of Somalia.
