Puntland Development Research Centre (PDRC) is a Local
Non-Governmental Organization (LNGO) based in Garowe
the administrative capital of the Puntland state of Somalia.
On October 30, 1999, the Centre was founded as an independent, nonpartisan, non-profit research institute dedicated to peacebuilding, the promotion of democracy and respect for human rights.
Over the last two decades, PDRC has completed more than 128 projects in peacebuilding, governance and state-building, development, and environment and supported a number of election and administrative transitions.
PDRC aims to become a credible source for policy analysis and an actor in Somali peace, state-building, and development.
PDRC aspires to participate, as actor and beneficiary, in peace building and reconstruction of Somalia
PDRC has adopted “Participatory Action Research – (PAR)” as a strategic tool for peacebuilding,
With vast experience in peace-building, PDRC has done research on the field but also actively participated in reconciliation and mediation programs. PDRC will work on this agenda until there is a safe environment for all Somali citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
PDRC has 20 years track record in promoting state-building, rule of law and good governance in various capacities and commitments from a primitive state to more functioning and service delivering institutions. Democratization and federalism will be our main focus.
PDRC’s third focus area is development, with the goal to improve the well-being individuals in Puntland and Somalia as a whole so that the society can reach its full potential. We believe that the success of society is linked to the well being of each and every citizen
