Our Focus

With a newly elected government in Puntland and a Federal government, the commitment to the democratization process and overall development of Somalia seems to have taken root once more. In this regard, PDRC focuses on three broad areas (with constant attention to women and youth empowerment) of:

Peace

With vast experience in peace-building, PDRC has done research on the field but also actively participated in reconciliation and mediation programs. PDRC will work on this agenda until there is a safe environment for all Somali citizens, especially the most vulnerable.

National Reconciliation

Governance

PDRC has 20 years track record in promoting state-building, rule of law and good governance in various capacities and commitments from a primitive state to more functioning and service delivering institutions.

Democratization

    • Contribute to the development of a democratic system of governance based on our previous experiences.
    • Empowering Women and Youth to participate in politics
    • Creating constructive dialogue space to shape citizens’ views on democracy in Puntland and election processes.
    • Supporting the administration with the early formation of local governments

PDRC’s third focus area is development, with the goal to improve the well-being of individuals in Puntland and Somalia as a whole so that the society can reach its full potential. We believe that the success of a society is linked to the well being of each and every citizen. PDRC wants to invest in the people, remove barriers and help Somalia reach the path to self-sufficiency.
