Dr Khalif Bile, PhD

Public Health Specialist Consultant and

Professor Emeritus on Health Policy, and

Management at Somali Public Health Network

Dr. Bile is a renowned doctor of Epidemiology and Internal Medicine. He graduated from the faculty of Medicine, Sofia University, Bulgaria, and specialized in Gastroenterology and then Tropical and Subtropical Medicine at La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. After a PhD in Epidemiology of Communicable Diseases from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, Dr. Bile rose to Professor and ultimately Dean at Medical College of the Somali National University from 1980 to 1985. Dr. Bile worked for WHO in Somalia between 1986 and 1989, during which time he helped establish more than 300 village-based health posts and trained community health workers in basic primary health care. Dr. Bile later became WHO Country Representative of Iran and Pakistan. Dr. Bile is currently Public Health Specialist Consultant and Professor Emeritus on Health Policy and Management at Somali Public Health Network.
