The Department of Culture and Heritage is considered the sixth Strategic Objective of the organization. The department, though yet to be physically established, has the following purposes:

  1. Promotion of Puntland/Somalia Cultural Festivals (music, dance, and drama, i.e. including songs, poems, and art) intended to promote peaceful coexistence among people.
  2. Establish a historical culture and heritage Department within PDRC (establish department and a museum)
  3. Development of archaeological papers on Puntland/Somalia heritage and culture
  4.  Rehabilitation and preservation of Puntland/Somalia historical heritage sites
  5. Conducting media advocacy, awareness, and sensitization on culture and Heritage

PDRC, in a bid to promote this important department, has published papers on the Somali Calendar (Ammin-Tiris), Ancient Ruins, and historic sites. It has also engaged potential and experienced archaeologists, both local and foreign, and is striving to advance and uphold the Culture and Heritage of Puntland/Somalia.
