Puntland Development & Research Center (PDRC) | Garowe, Puntland, Somalia Individual or Institutional Consultancy – In-Person – Approximately Two Months
About PDRC
PDRC is a Somali non-governmental research and policy institution based in Garowe, Puntland. For over two decades, we have conducted applied research on peacebuilding, governance, democratization, and conflict resolution across Somalia, in politically sensitive, resource-constrained environments where rigorous evidence matters.
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a qualified trainer to design and deliver a 15-session Capacity Building Research Methodology Training Program for approximately 9–10 PDRC research staff of mixed experience levels. Sessions run three hours each, held at our Garowe office over approximately two months.
The training covers the full research cycle: theory, design, field instruments, data collection, thematic analysis, electronic tools (KoboCollect), and validation, including two dedicated role-play and field scenario sessions. The goal is a research team that is more rigorous, more consistent, and more field-ready.
Full details, session topics, deliverables, and evaluation criteria are set out in the attached Terms of Reference.

- Strong grounding in qualitative and quantitative social research methods
- Working knowledge of research ethics and Do No Harm in fragile and conflict-affected settings
