21st, September, 2014
Having considered, the importance given to upholding peace and its values in our religion/Faith.
Having seen, the hopes that our people have for peace, that hope that guides our people to do good.
Having given due consideration, to the 1981 Declaration of the United Nations proclaiming the International Day of Peace as a day for commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within one nation and generally among the whole world and the peoples the dwell therein.
Giving consideration, to the 2001 promulgation of the United Nations circulating the articles of the commemoration of the international day of peace to include calling upon the peoples of the world to observe ceasefire and cessation to violence internationally. Calling upon the peoples of the world to observe the aforementioned principles for one day on the 21st of September 2014.
Having seen, the support that our people give to the commemoration of the International Day of Peace, a day that emphasizes a vision of global peace, a day that inspires the cooperation of every individual, organization and the nations throughout the world.
Having recognized, that the prevailing tribulations in our country and all over the world has motivated citizens to pursue the attainment of peace individually and global peace as well as with a view of providing peace to future generations.
Now, therefore, I – President Abdiweli Ali Gaas, by the power vested in me by the people of Puntland State, Somalia, do hereby declare the 21st of September as the International Day of Peace.
